A story of resilience, humanity, and hope.

Errol Webber
Director, Producer & Cinematographer
Errol Webber is an Academy Award–winning cinematographer and acclaimed director celebrated for his ability to reveal the human spirit through cinematic realism and emotional depth. From Music by Prudence (Oscar winner) to American Promise (Sundance Jury Award), his storytelling combines truth, empathy, and artistry.
Born in Jamaica and raised in Baltimore, Webber’s journey from aspiring pilot to filmmaker reflects the same resilience at the heart of The King of Trash. Through his lens, the Duong family’s story becomes a universal portrait of hope, endurance, and the American Dream.
The Duong Family
The Heart of the Story
At the center of The King of Trash is the Duong family, whose remarkable true story defines the spirit of perseverance.
David Duong, the film’s central figure, is the President and CEO of California Waste Solutions and Founder of Vietnam Waste Solutions, a visionary leader who turned his family’s struggle into a mission of purpose and sustainability. Alongside him, Victor Duong and Kristina Duong represent the next generation, carrying forward the family’s commitment to innovation, integrity, and community impact.
This film is a tribute to their late father, Duong Tai Thu, known in Vietnam as The King of Trash, a man whose courage, dignity, and faith guided his family from the fall of Saigon to a new beginning in America. His belief that “there is honor in every kind of honest work” continues to echo through everything they’ve built.
